I'm a 24yr old designer who decided to start a business even though everyone told me not to. This blog documents my personal journey and the trials and tribulations of being a "young entrepreneur" in a poor economic climate.

I was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2010 I graduated from Dundee University with a First Class BSc(Hons) in Digital Interaction Design and following the hype of my degree project, Pillow Talk, set up my own company to develop the concept into a commercial product.

Little Riot was born in September 2010 and has been gaining momentum ever since. In October 2010 I secured an initial £25,000 of development funding from the Technology Strategy Board which kicked everything off and for the past year I've been working relentlessly on the product development. To date, I have secured £50,000 of funding and have won eight awards for innovation and enterprise.

Pillow Talk is due to launch in the first quarter of 2012. When I'm not cracking the whip at my team of product designers or trying to work out how to file a VAT Return, I do consultancy work for other companies. The emotional aspect of Pillow Talk has sparked a lot of interest and I am regularly asked to advise on how companies building anything from exhibitions to cars can also create engaging user experiences.

I am also proud to be an ambassador for young enterprise and enjoy working to support others who are hoping to pursue a similar path. I often speak at events and teach or run workshops in schools or organisations. I love doing it, so please get in touch if you think we could work together.

Unfortunately running a start-up means I don't really have much free time - but I dream about riding my horse, sailing and rock climbing. I think I used to read books sometimes as well?
